Fishing Report 5-14-21

Crappie:
There’s been several posts and reports of a lot of fish being caught on the bank. The fishing definitely picked up today. It’s been an up and down beginning to the spawn but the majority of fish have not spawned yet. Hopefully the rain doesn’t disrupt the fish too much and they make their way to the bank in numbers. Jigs and minnows are both still working. The fish have been anywhere from 10’ to inches of water. The fish in that ten foot depth have been suspended so put your bait at 3’-5’. If you can brave the rain over the next few days you should be rewarded with some fish.
Bass:
The bass fishing has slowed a bit. Fish are still shallow, 5’ or less. Senko’s, jigs, and brush hog style baits are catching fish. Top water baits are working as well. Spooks, buzz baits, and frogs around shallow wood should produce some bites. Some have spawned but there’s still a lot that haven’t. If the nights stay warm the fish should stay shallow and remain pretty active.
Catfish:
Not much new to report on the catfish. Channels are being caught on cut bait and Sonnys in 3’-6’ in the evenings. Fish near the channel on shallow flats.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
I’ll try to keep everyone updated throughout the week as to what the crappie are doing on the facebook page. www.facebook.com/burtonsbaitandtackle
