Fishing Report 5-18-22
Crappie:
It seems like the bank bite is slowing down a bit but there are still a lot of fish to spawn yet so don’t give up on it. I’ve heard of a lot of better fish coming on shallow brush piles, 4’-10’ deep, near spawning banks. Jigs and minnows both are working with a myriad of colors catching fish.
We’ve caught several females that have not spawned yet so I’d think the shallow bite will continue for another week or so.
Bass:
The bass fishing has remained good all spring and now fish are in one stage or another of the spawn. Fish shallow wood from the front the the backs of pockets. Senko’s, jigs, brush hogs, and beaver style baits are all catching fish. There is a top water bite as well. Pop R’s, spooks, and buzz baits around the same cover are working.
Catfish:
The catfish are shallow. Several reports of channels being caught while crappie fishing. Large shiners and cut Shad are great right now.
Walleye:
It seems the walleye bite has turned on. Main lake points in 5’-10’ on jerk baits, Flickr Shad’s, and bottom bouncers with crawlers are producing some nice walleye.
