Fishing Report 6-12-21

Crappie:
The crappie bite has slowed some with the fish starting to head to the brush. Jigs and minnows over brush in 8-18’ depending on what part of the lake you’re in. If you don’t get a bit quick then move to the next pile. Some good fish have been caught this week around the bridges as well.
Bass:
The bass fishing is still good. Several different baits are working but the fish seem to be shallow. Fish from inches to 6’ or so. There’s a pretty good bluegill spawn going on so the bass won’t be far from the bluegill buffet.
Catfish:
The catfishing has remained good. Cut shad and sonnys have been working well on channels and I’ve seen a handful of giant flatheads that have come on bluegill.
Walleye:
Normally walleye don’t make the cut for the top of the report but the walleye fishing has been pretty good. I mean that relatively speaking, this isn’t Canada but for Smithville it’s been pretty good. Worms on bottom bouncing rigs in 8-12’ on longer flat points have worked well. Shad raps and Flickr shads on the same type of points have worked as well.
Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend! Come see us if you have time!
